Going South Again by Car: 01.09.2019 Scheessel-Brackemich

Dimanche 1 er septembre 2019. Scheessel-Brackemich

Nous partons à 10 h 15 sous un ciel gris et iI ne fait que 19 ˚ ce matin. Nous prenons l’autoroute vers Brême puis Osnabrück. Nous trouvons la circulation bien chargée pour un dimanche matin, qu’est-ce que cela doit être en semaine. Mais c’est surement un grand retour, je pense que les gens commencent à travailler demain. Jens conduit d’abord, pas besoin de navigateur sur l’autoroute. Nous nous arrêtons sur un grand parking et voulons aller aux toilettes, mais il y a la queue partout, pour les toilettes, au restaurant, au kiosque … Nous repartons et sortons de l’autoroute un peu avant Osnabrück et changeons de conducteur. Jens demande au GPS la route la plus courte vers Dortmund et Cologne. C’est peut-être la plus courte mais elle doit être aussi la plus petite. Nous voilà partis dans la campagne, route étroite, jolis paysages et fermes pittoresques, mais on n’avance pas vite. Nous trouvons un petit chemin pour notre lunch et allons boire le café à la petite ville de Melle et en profitons pour faire une petite promenade. Autre arrêt dans l’après-midi dans un village avec un haut clocher. Puis nous roulons, pas vite, mais on avance. Nous savons que Gaby (maman de Thorsten, notre gendre ) ne rentre que vers 20 h chez elle donc nous dinons en route. Nous prenons une pizza à Olpe, une ville à une trentaine de km de notre destination, Brackemich, où Gaby et Ferdi habitent. Nous y arrivons à 21 h.

Sunday, September 1, 2019. Scheessel-Brackemich

We leave at 10:15 am under a gray sky and it’s only 19 ˚ this morning. We take the motorway to Bremen then Osnabrück. We find the traffic heavy for a Sunday morning, it must be even worse on weekdays. But it is, maybe, people coming back from holidays, I think people start working tomorrow. Jens drives first, no need for a navigator on the highway. We stop on a large car park and want to go to the toilet, but there is queue everywhere, for the toilet, restaurant, kiosk ... We go out qickly and leave the highway a little before Osnabrück and change drivers. Jens asks the GPS for the shortest route to Dortmund and Cologne. It may be the shortest, but it must also be the smallest. Here we are in the countryside, narrow road, pretty landscapes and picturesque farms, but our speed is low. We find a small place for our lunch and go to drink coffee in the small town of Melle and take the opportunity to take a walk. Another stop in the afternoon in a village with a high bell tower. Then we drive, not fast, but we advance. We know that Gaby (Thorsten's mum, our son-in-law) does not return until around 8 pm at her house so we dine en route. We have a pizza in Olpe, a town about 30 km from our destination, Brackemich, where Gaby and Ferdi live. We arrive there at 9 pm.
