We are tidying
up slowly, we have time today, we are going to do 40 km in all. Jens talks with
the nice guy from the campsite. He tells us that he is relaxing a bit now in
September, but in summer the campsite is
full and its.a lot of work. It opens April first and will close at the end of September. He
offers us a (good) coffee at the kiosk and offers us homemade olive oil, but he
has only 5 l cans and that's a bit much for us. We leave on the small road that
runs along the coast, beautiful landscapes, beach and mountains. We let the
impatient cars pass and continue at 40-50 km / h. The road then leaves the
coast and passes through a forest. We arrive at Vieste, the city at the end of
the peninsula and are surprised to see that it is a rather big and old town
perched on its promontory. We find a campsite at the exit of the city, quite
small, shady and right in front of the beach. We go for a swim, the beach is
beautiful and the water is clearer than further north. At the end of the beach,
towards the city, a large white cliff rises and a kind of sugar loaf is
separated from the cliff. Lunch, rest-blog, second swim and dinner in town. We walk
there, these steep cities are not suitable for bikes.
