Dimanche 8
septembre 2019

It's raining
most of the day. We accompany Fritz and Margret to worship at 10 am. A little
before 10 am, the 5 bells start to play a melody, each bell has a different
tone and it's pretty. The church is old and simple, no altar or statues and the
pastor is alone. He speaks a lot and we don't understand. But I can follow
with my finger the text of the hymns, I sing a little without understanding a
word of what I say. The pastor baptizes a baby who is calm and does not
protest. After worship, Fritz, Margret and a few other people prepared coffee
and a kind of sweet bread called a braid, in the parish hall. We go also, some
people speak to us in French. After the coffee, Fritz who has the
church's keys will show us the organ and play a piece for us, it is a privilege to
listen to him. Then we go up, all four, at the top of the bell tower. We see the
5 bells up close and admire the landscape seen from above. Lunch at home and
free time in the afternoon, I take the opportunity to catch up on the blog of
Friday and do the one of Saturday. Margret goes for a walk up the meadow behind
their house, accompanied by Pichie, the cat. She follows her like a dog.
Margret sits on a bench up and the cat too, then they go down together. At 6:30
pm, we walk to a restaurant the four of us, it doesn’t rain anymore. Great
meal at the hotel “Bellevue au Lac”, a nice old traditional hotel. The meal is
excellent and we spend an excellent evening too. How lucky we are to have such
good friends. We go home under our umbrellas, it's raining again, and we wish
each other a good night. We leave tomorrow.
