sympathique.
vernissage.

The weather is
grey and cool. We go for a walk, Jens and I, to the lake. When we come back,
Samuel, Fritz and Margret’s son, is here with his baby Matteo, a 18 months old
toddler active and smiling. We have lunch together, have a short stillestund,
and then Fritz takes us to Thun, the big city at the end of the lake. Beautiful
old flowery town. We take an elevator to go to the castle, it avoids us a good
climb but we walk down. Fritz and Jens are walking fast and I'm a little
behind, as I often stop to take pictures. It begins to rain and after one hour
we decide to drive home. At around 4:30 pm, Fritz takes us to fetch his mother,
a 91 year old lady, and we all go to the opening of Margret’s exhibition of
paintings. Margret left before us on her electric bike. Margret is a little
nervous and is afraid the audience will be thin. But no, a lot of people come
and the mood is positive. A lady gives a speech and, before starting, asks if
the audience wants it in Bernese, the local language, or in classical German.
People want it in Bernese. Even we, who do not understand neither one nor the
other, hear the difference. The Bernese is much softer, the -R are rolled and
we don’t hear guttural sounds like in German. Margret’s choir sings, in many
languages, even in Albanian! Eva, the lady conducting the choir, writes books for children and it's Margret who makes the illustrations. Then an "apero” closes this nice opening. A
lady comes to speak to me, in French and tells me that she read my blog! We
return and at 10 pm we retire to our apartments. Thanks to Fritz and Margret
for inviting us to this exposition opening.
