Going South Again by Car: 14.10.2019 Preveza

Après un très bon séjour à Sifnos et la joie de revoir enfants, petits-enfants, sœur et amis nous reprenons la route, ou plutôt la mer le dimanche 13, le ferry de Sifnos à Athènes. Nous dormons au camping d’Athènes, Catherine sous sa petite tente et nous deux dans la voiture. Nous partons ensemble hier matin pour Patras où nous disons au revoir à Catherine qui va prendre un ferry pour l’Italie et rentrer en France par le train. Nous continuons vers Preveza où nous arrivons à 15 h 30. Nous allons directement à la marina voir Hera II qui y est amarrée. Nous déchargeons la voiture et chargeons le bateau, puis, d’un commun accord, déménageons pour aller au quai en ville. La marina est pleine, mais presque tous les bateaux sont vides et c’est assez mort. La traversée prend 10 mn et nous avons le temps d’entendre un drôle de bruit dans le moteur. Le quai est presque plein mais nous trouvons une place, perpendiculaire au quai et, à notre habitude, nez sur le quai et ancre derrière. Jens commence à fouiner dans le moteur (bruit très inquiétant), les toilettes (réservoir bloqué), les placards (café renversé), le frigidaire (pas dégivré depuis belle-lurette), le réservoir d’eau (presque vide) … Mais c’est cela d’être copropriétaires. Nous allons nous baigner, cela rafraichit le corps et l’esprit et nous décidons de diner au bateau. Il fait beau, la mer est calme et le ciel tout étoilé.

After a very good stay in Sifnos and the joy of seeing children, grandchildren, sister and friends we take the road, or rather the sea on Sunday the 13th, the Sifnos ferry to Athens. We sleep at the Athens campground, Catherine under her little tent and the two of us in the car. We leave together yesterday morning for Patras where we say goodbye to Catherine who will take a ferry to Italy and return to France by train. We continue to Preveza where we arrive at 3:30 pm. We go directly to the marina to see Hera II moored there. We unload the car and load the boat, then, by mutual agreement, move to go to the dock in town. The marina is full, but almost all the boats are empty and it's pretty dead. The crossing takes 10 minutes and we have time to hear a strange noise in the engine. The wharf is almost full but we find a place, perpendicular to the wharf and, as usual, nose on the dock and anchor behind. Jens starts poking around in the engine (very disturbing noise), the toilets (tank blocked), the cupboards (coffee spilled), the fridge (not defrosted for a long time), the water tank (almost empty) ... But it’s like that being co-owners . We go for a swim, it refreshes the body and the spirit and we decide to dine at the boat. The weather is nice, the sea is calm and the sky all starry.
