2019

It's funny, we
moved our watches an hour but our body kept the "old" hour. This
morning we wake up at 8:30, but it's actually 7:30 am Albanian time. We leave
around 11 am and return to take pictures of the monasteries, those of yesterday
were against the light and too white. Then we continue to Trikala, a beautiful
old town about thirty km from Meteora. We drive to the center and look for a parking
to park the car, but can’t find either parking nor street space. So we
continue, but before leaving the city we notice that there are many bikes. We
go shopping at a Lidl at the exit of the city and continue our journey. On the
side of the road, I see white things, light and I think it's trash, papers
maybe, but no, it's cotton, we cross cotton fields. We go north of Larisa and
go east to the coast. In the first village, Stomio, nice beach but the campsite
is closed. We bathe, eat our lunch and continue. And we drive, drive looking
for a campsite or a place where we can stop for the night. The beach is
beautiful and long but the surroundings are not very pretty and almost
everything is closed, it's really the end of the season. We pass a village
called "Kokkino Nero" and I translate it by "Coquin Noir".
Who is this black rascal? We retrace our steps and park on a beachfront parking
lot in the village of Velika. We saw in passing a small open restaurant and
another positive point, there is a shower on the beach. The fast food lady
speaks English and is friendly. I take a kebab and Jens the same thing without
pita. She doesn’t have coffee but warm “coffee frappé”, and that's good. Jens
installs the bed and we go to bed. First night in free camping.
