Promenade après le petit déjeuner, l’hôtel est à 10 mn du centre. Le centre de Subotica est vraiment spécial, monumental pour une ville assez modeste. Cette ville devait être prospère au début du vingtième siècle, la mairie, le grand bâtiment rose, est construit entre 1908 et 1010. Serbie a deux systèmes d'écriture, les lettres latines comme nous et les lettres cyrilliques. Nous achetons du pain, un petit gâteau et des bonbons pour dépenser nos derniers sous serbes, puis nous partons à 11 h 30. Nous arrivons à la frontière entre la Serbie et la Hongrie à midi. La queue est longue et nous attendons deux heures puis passons sans problème. Mais la queue des camions est encore bien plus longue, au moins 3 km, et complètement arrêtée. Nous roulons et il se met à pleuvoir. Nous arrivons à Budapest vers 16 h et le GPS nous emmène à l’hôtel « Flamenco », un hôtel-immeuble où Jens a réservé une chambre, il fait déjà bien sombre. Nous avions pensé aller voir la ville en vélo, mais il fait nuit, donc nous allons à pied. Nous trouvons bien notre chemin, c’est à peu près 2 km jusqu’au centre. Nous allons voir le Danube et un grand pont tout illuminé. Nous marchons un peu et commençons à rentrer. Nous voyons un restaurant qui parait bien et demandons si nous pouvons diner. Oui, mais pas dans la salle principale mais en sous-sol. Ok, mais en bas un orchestre joue, très fort, et le vacarme est insupportable, nous ressortons. Mais j’ai vraiment envie d’aller aux toilettes, et nous rentrons dans un bar, juste pour boire quelque chose et aller aux toilettes. Mais ce bar est sympa, ils servent aussi des repas et nous restons. C’est un bar pour les jeunes, nous sommes les plus vieux, et de loin, mais l’ambiance est sympa. Nous rentrons, toujours à pied, et avons encore une longue soirée, donc le temps de finir le blog.

We go for a walk after breakfast, the hotel is 10 minutes from the center. The center of Subotica is really special, monumental for a rather modest city. This city was prosperous at the beginning of the twentieth century, the town hall, the big pink building, is built between 1908 and 1010. Serbia has two systems to write, latin letters the same as us and cyrillic letters. We buy bread, a small cake and sweets to spend our last Serbian coins, then we leave at 11:30 am. We arrive at the border between Serbia and Hungary at noon. The queue is long and we wait two hours and then pass without problem. But the queue of the trucks is still much longer, at least 3 km, and completely stopped. We drive and it starts to rain. We arrive in Budapest at around 4:00 pm and the GPS takes us to the hotel "Flamenco", a high building-hotel where Jens has booked a room, it is already dark. We had thought of going to see the city by bike, but it is night, so we go on foot. We find our way, it is about 2 km to the center. We will see the Danube and a large bridge all illuminated. We walk a little and start to go back. We see a restaurant that looks good and ask if we can dine. Yes, but not in the main room but in the basement. Ok, but downstairs an orchestra plays, very loud, and the din is unbearable, we come out. But I really want to go to the bathroom, and we go into a bar, just to drink something and go to the bathroom. But this bar is nice, they also serve meals and we stay. It's a bar for young people, we are the oldest, by far, but the atmosphere is nice. We come back, still on foot, and have a long evening today too, so the time to finish the blog.
