09.11.2019 Hambourg/Hamburg

Samedi 9 novembre 2019

Tom Yann, Anne's son (20 years old) comes at 8 am to have breakfast with us. He doesn't have much time, he has class at 9 o'clock. It's very nice to meet and time passes so quickly that I forget to take a picture. Then we go for a walk in Nuremberg, beautiful city that already prepares Christmas. It's gray, foggy and cold. Then we drive north to Hamburg where we will visit Carsten, Thorsten’s brother, (Thorsten is our son-in-law). He will be home at 10 pm, so we have time. We leave at 11 am, drive on the highway and eat lunch in the car on a highway parking. A note: you have to pay to use the toilets in the service stations, it's a bit strange. We drive, changing every two hours (like at the night on the boat) and admire the beautiful colors of autumn. We leave the highway around 4 pm, take a small road that follows a river and walk a bit to stretch our legs. We see interesting things: a lock, a cat and chickens. We return on the highway near Göttingen. It's funny, the singer Barbara (singer of our youth) wrote two songs with names of city: Vienna (If I write to you this evening from Vienna ...) and Göttingen (... but it is very nice anyway in Göttingen, in Göttingen ...) and we pass both. We leave the motorway one more time about hundred km south of Hamburg and go to a small town to eat at an Italian restaurant, it is 7:30 pm and we calculated that we will leave before 9 am. But it's just, we wait an hour between salad and spaghetti. We get back on the road, the traffic is less dense and calmer at night, and we arrive at Carsten's home at 10:30 pm He welcomes us gently into his big house, Mona his friend is not there, and we go to bed quickly, it has been a long day.
