Jeudi 26 septembre 2019

I'm going with Jens to see the institute; it takes us 15
minutes by bike. Sometimes we ride a bike path but sometimes there is none and
there, we must be careful. The parking is a bit chaotic and the cars parked in
double line frequent. I get to know Jens' colleagues and we'll have a coffee
together. I take a picture of them and come back at the hotel, almost without
losing my way. I start the blog and then go back to the institute, I go to
lunch with them at a "lokanta" restaurant with pots. It's good, my
stuffed eggplant is delicious. I go back to the hotel, without getting lost,
then go back to the center. At the bookstore, there is no longer the
"Albanian Daily News", but another newspaper the "Tirana
Times", a weekly magazine. I leaf through a book that tells the story of life
under the communist regime and it prepares me for my next visit: the museum,
installed in a bunker (a huge underground shelter) of the communist period.
It's terrible. The regime of terror, denunciation, secret police (Sigurimi),
concentration camps, torture, executions ... And it is not so old, from 1946 to
1991. I come out, moved and upset. I come home late, it's 5 pm and Jens is here.
We dine light at the same restaurant as yesterday, but without an entire bottle
of Albanian wine.
