Beau temps, chaud
Question : qui a

Good weather,
warm and calm. We talk with our Australian neighbors. They bought their
catamaran in France and "try it" before making the big trip back to
Australia next year. Then we leave for our long march, to go to the monastery,
at the top of the mountain. We pass first the chapel we saw yesterday and
continue on a good track dug into the mountainside. It’s steep, it's hot and
it's far, but walking slowly, we get there. The monastery is actually a small
chapel. The track stops here. I am surprised by the number of cyclamen and
crocus near the chapel, we have to be careful not to crush them. Nice view of
the other side of the island, on the small port of Episcopi. We go down and we
refresh ourselves at the beautiful beach. It gives us courage for the last km.
We left at 10:20 am and come back at 2:50 pm, tired and hungry. After lunch,
nap for Jens and blog for me, but I fall asleep on my computer, so nap for me
too. Around 5 am, we go to Kalamos other beach, the windmill beach, south of
the village. The village was once important, many old houses, which were not
destroyed by the 1953 earthquake, are large. Swimming and hug of a small cat.
When we get back to the village, a motorcycle stops near us. It's an old
gentleman, a former captain on big tankers, who comes to chat with us. He is
from Kalamos but only spends the summer here, in winter he lives in Piraeus. I
finish the blog and we are going to dinner at the same cafeteria as yesterday.
It's full and the young woman doesn’t have time to chat with us. I just have
time to ask her name, Chrissa or Crissa and take a picture of her. She takes
the pose of Pipi Longstocking (Pipi Langstrømpe). Her husband helps her in the
kitchen and to serve, and delivers orders with his motorcycle. There are a lot
of bikes here, there is no ferry for cars and it must be expensive, I suppose,
to bring a car to the island.
